Yoga is for everyone – all body-types, all ability levels. Don’t worry if you think you’re “not flexible” – if you can breathe, you can do Yoga.
Yoga can be incredibly fun, and it has numerous health benefits, such as improved posture, increased strength and flexibility, better mood, and greater sense of well-being (whether you practice at home, in a studio or at work). Erin Menut is an Experienced, Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Instructor (E-RYT-500) and is certified in Mat Pilates through Balanced Body, where she has also completed training in Pilates Reformer. She began her mindful movement career as a martial artist in 1992, maintaining a dedicated practice spanning 20+ years, and turned to Core and Power Yoga as a way to stay active and fit while finishing grad school. After a car accident in 2007, she began to explore Yoga as a healing modality to recover from injuries to her back and knees, and discovered the healing power of Restorative & Relaxing Yoga practices. Following the death of a beloved relative from cancer in 2008, she became certified in Yoga of the Heart Yoga Therapy, which uses gentle movement, relaxation and guided imagery to help reverse heart disease and aid recovery from cancer. In 2020, she discovered Peace of Mind Pilates and fell in love (again) with the benefits of a core-focused fitness practice. From 2009-2014 she owned & operated Avenues Yoga, a friendly, down-to-earth studio, where she taught daily classes for 6+ years for all body types and ability levels, and co-directed an acclaimed Teacher Training Program. She has taught numerous classes for the University of Vermont, the University of Utah’s Lifelong Learning Program, the Salt Lake Community College Yoga Teacher Training Program, and in various spa, corporate, and private settings in the local community, both out west and back home in Vermont.
YOGA FOR BACK HEALTH: Every class I teach is includes attention to a healthy back, proper alignment and mindful movement designed to improve spinal health. When your back feels good, everything is easier.
YOGALATES: This is one of my favorites – a combination of Pilates core strengthening with Yoga stretching and breathing for relaxation and cardio health.
ONE-ON-ONE & SMALL GROUP SESSIONS
Private and semi-private (small group) lessons are great because they’re less intimidating than going to a studio. In a private lesson, you get to go at your own pace, whether you’re a beginner or a lifelong practitioner. You’ll get lots of personal attention and individual feedback so that you can feel confident you’re practicing safely, and receiving the most benefit from your time on the mat.
Yoga can be a great part of your company’s wellness program. Every company is different – maybe you would like a half hour of gentle Yoga stretching from your chairs during lunch without having to change your clothes, or an hour-long class in the board room on your mats in the afternoon. Corporate Yoga has been shown to boost employee enthusiasm, improve health, and reduce absenteeism – among many other benefits!
